Sultan: How 'happy-ending' Salman Khan story becomes tragic when viewed from Anushka Sharma's point-of-view!

Image
Sultan to sum in a single line is a film where underdog wins against all odds. But that's like saying, all superhero films are same where world is at the cusp of extinction and then a superhero arrives to fight all evil forces. Sultan has many side plots apart from the story of its protagonist Sultan Ali Khan (played by Salman Khan). Of the many plots, one that intrigued me was of female protagonist Aarfa (played by Anushka Sharma). Sultan is a breather in otherwise myriad number of Salman Khan movies where female leads are merely used to move their bodies to peppy dance numbers or say that one catchy dialogue (remember 'thappad se dar nahi lagta..' from Dabangg? ) and disappear. Just go away. But Aarfa had her share of the story and screen space which is otherwise rare in Salman's movies. She is not another ordinary village girl who in our films dreams to get married to dashing hero who comes on sports bikes with oiled muscles. In fact she wants them n...

Of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra, love, romance and phenomenon called SRK!!

Image
Follow @meetdheeraj Smelling some coffee in my new coffee mug; nosh in old plate. All of a sudden usual leaning back on my moody chair made me to think of SRK style from Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) and all of a sudden a whole new idea of love, life, romance and film stood before me! Is this what everybody calls a Yash Chopra magic ?   There is in fact lots of buzz about JTHJ in town, almost everybody is speaking of it in lot vivid ways of course. Firstly, some are skipping it all just because some callow guys are presenting themselves with meaningless verdicts. After watching it myself, I personally feel pity of them who are giving it a miss out of callow suggestions! Those guys have not seen it completely or they don't know what exactly love all about is. Those are the merry individuals who believe it's love only when you build something like Taj Mahal for your beloved. My hardcore masala (spice) lovers, hold back! You've got it all wholly wrong! Love isn...

Anushka Sharma: Shahrukh Khan smells the best!

Image
And we thought that only Rani Mukerji was absolutely smitten with the fragrance of her favourite co-star, Shahrukh Khan… During the promotions of  Aiyyaa ,  Rani Mukerji  revealed the real reason why she likes romancing Shahrukh Khan onscreen. Remember her quote  – ‘Shahrukh smells the best’? Ms. Mukerji justified her statement with: “Work becomes much easier if your co-stars smell nice and especially if it’s romantic role, the first essence is smell. And in that observation, SRK smells the best.” Hmmm… Anushka Sharma , who worked with SRK in her debut film  Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi  and is also part of Yash Chopra’s last directed film  Jab Tak Hai Jaan  echoes similar sentiments. She swears by the fact that the superstar indeed smells good. Awww! It so happened that a TV channel asked Anushka about the best thing she likes about SRK besides his acting skills. Shahrukh poked her several times to say good things about him and was finally sur...
