Vote not because it’s meant to be but vote to get your voice heard!

Let Democracy prevail:Come join hand in making the largest democracy survive by voting!

The heroic narrative of modern society has always been that democracy would prevail in the end. It in fact is the merry resilience of it that makes it to triumph amidst all odds. But there is this sorry-state-of-democracy where though entitled and able, people (even well educated!) refuse to use their franchise. Then, why exactly should I vote? Will my one vote make any empire fall or rise for that instance? Yes, it could say the results from all around!
Here are some important events in U.S. history that were decided by just a few votes:
·         Richard Nixon, not John F. Kennedy, would have become President of the U.S. in 1960 if one person from each voting place had voted differently.
·         If just one U.S. Senator had voted differently, U.S. President Andrew Johnson would have been removed from office in 1867.
·         Texas might not have become part of the United States in 1845 if one U.S. Senator had voted differently.  The vote in the U.S. Senate was 27-25 to invite Texas to become a state.  If it had been a tie, Texas would not have been asked to become part of the Union.
Not just in U.S. alone but in our India too after the advent of EVM's we have seen not just one but two cases where a simple vote has decided candidate's future, each from Karnataka and Rajasthan. First of its kind was noted in Karnataka itself where it obliterated one's career even till today. It was Mr. A R Krishnamurthy (40751 votes) who lost against R Dhruvanarayan (40752 votes) in Santhemarahalli (Sc) Constituency in the 2004 assembly elections. At the heart of the disappointment was Mr. Murthy himself who prevented his own driver from casting his vote when he asked 'sir' a little time to vote! This unwanted negligent attitude cost him a fortune which later never knocked upon his doors.

Vote not because it is meant to be but vote to get your voice heard. Remember, Every Vote Counts! Go to the polls because you support democracy, our ability to elect the people who govern us, and our right to be free.
Democracy isn't any magic syrup that works by itself; it needs doses, doses of votes to strengthen it.

You Can Make a Difference!  Here's how...
·         Play a role in choosing our leaders and changing our laws by voting.
·         If you're 18 or older, vote in every federal, state, and local election.
·         Learn about the candidates and issues before you vote in any election.
·         Know what's going on in your country and community.
·         Write letters to public officials about issues that are important to you.
·         Remind everyone 18 and older to vote.
·         Respect your right to vote!  It's a privilege that many people in the world don't have.

Opportunity knocks on your door in the hope of bright tomorrow and by not voting you let it go off in your smugness because many believe what good is it to choose between rotten eggs! Well, it is no good but, to survive at least you should pick the one that is little good or not too much rotten! After all who does sleep on empty stomach just because his/her (favorite) dish is missing from the menu?

There are few people who act as if they are attending some sort of multiple-choice exams, go and press whatever button that appears merry-go-lucky. My grandpa too was weird when the question was about elections; he used to go and press the top most button, whosoever be it. Both are uncalled for options to opt in a democracy as big as this. Go by your thoughts, logic, work done at large; if not anything else, then promises that possess weight not illogical tantrums to woo innocent voters. There will be many who would provide tadka of money or baits of other kind at your doorstep but do remember no amount of money or baits stay longer as candidates do after winning. So let baits not decide your press-of-key but the real grave issues, solidarity and a nod from heart let do it.

I have not much to say - who to vote and not to. I know you are much wiser than anyone's thoughts or suspicion and will strengthen democracy the way it is best meant to be...

Good Day and Happy Voting!

Do share below what makes you vote and what not to...
