Horrific Rapes, blame-games and conventional policing: Is India losing its ground in battling crimes against women?
There was a time when some pundits used to provide vague
theories of rape, one was - Gen Y wear what's provocative so man gets weird
thoughts of lust and it just happens. As simple as that! Is it?
Let us not waste hours in discussing what India must year and what not to, what should they eat or at least not on how should they behave in here or anywhere else on this planet. At last the recent tales of rapes from Delhi and Madhya Pradesh silences their theories where a four and five year old little children have been inhumanly raped by men of horrific age gives us more often a sense of how beleaguered and senseless society we have become. Just remember when in last year, a bench of HC had said, they find themselves clueless how a baby sleeping at home could incite lust in the mind of a thief who came to burglar but went on to rape and and dump her in drainage. No words of shamelessness could well aptly describe or shame those indulged in such crimes. There even doesn't seem to be any grounds on which such cases can be discussed far & large. What 'bad' of society could fill in such 'horrific' thoughts in their minds?
BSP supremo Mayawati in parliament said, it's the films and ads in between which show women in bad-light which provide fuel to the sick men who perceive women as toys which he could playoff when desired. May be or may be not, but one thing is quite crystal clear. IF BAD FILMS COULD INCITE BAD THOUGHTS WHY NOT GOOD FILMS AND ADS TO SUFFICE AND STRENGTHEN GOOD THOUGHTS. Are we culturally inhumane not to create such tales that are pretty modern in their approach but are rooted to good times and values? India boasts of its vast array of sociologists and filmmakers. Why don't they unite and make am attempt or at least why isn't concerned govt. go approach them. Leaving the petty politics of pointing one another in the rotten mess of rape cases, they together must start looking for novice alternatives that could transform the mindsets of society.
No doubt, police reforms are necessary but more than system, it's the policemen who need to be refined and reformed. The way some policemen have been looking at such cases and handling woman in utterly deceitful manner is worthy of looking at with eyes wide open. AND TILL SOCIETY AS A WHOLE DOESN'T LEARN OR REALIZE WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG BY THEIR HEART, NO AMOUNT OF POLICING, PATROLLING OR AMENDMENTS WILL CHANGE THE SITUATION WE ARE IN. With each new amendment, new ideas of crime will resurface - it practically in this system of society has no solution of its own. Solution will not arrive from anywhere but within. 'Education at home' is palpable and just 'not working anymore' thought. Parents at too many homes are just not bringing up girl and boy together. It is sad but though small, the seeds of taking her for granted are sown at such dens. As someone pointed this in parliament, it's time for all of us and more specifically for those concerned to revitalize our fundamental education system at root level because it's there where minds and ideas of every one of us are shaped.
It is time not just to be dependent on anyone else like Delhi CM Sheila Dixit who every time whenever such incidents happen finds fault with Home Minister SushilKumar Shinde for holding control of Delhi Police, it is time to unravel our own force like AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal put it down hours after parliament session. If you and I desire to live in more safe and hygienic society and environment then it is our collective responsibility to clean the rotten mess that has got collected from past and will accumulate more if not taken note of.
I don't know if death penalty, life term or capital punishment would solve this menace or not because what basically they do is - kill one mind whereas thousands still roam free in the search of new girl and possibly of new ideas to rape and escape! Better policing and better patrolling would sure bring statistics down but may not lessen the height of atrocity and inhumanity the perpetrators have been bringing into rapes every new day....
