If you’ve been following the news, you’re unlikely to have
missed the passionate voice of Arvind Kejriwal, the 43-year-old
Haryana-born activist, who is determined to tackle corruption and help change
the way India is governed.
India which was once heading to become the superpower of world
(or at least, that was what the media speculated!) suddenly dropped into a
valley of unbelievable scams which day by day dithered the image of India.
Utterly ironical moment came when this 'largest democracy' was all at the helm
of unprecedented humor from every corner of nation. Then, all at once from a village
unknown till than rose a man inspired from Gandhian values who captured
national headlines under the banner of 'India Against Corruption' (IAC). Thanks to
the intelligent minds like Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant & Shanti Bhushan,
Santosh Hegde, Kiran Bedi etc. who joined their hands with Anna Hazare to break
the mood of corruption clad India and successfully turned the whole nation into
am arena of mass movements which shook the entire nation including our own
Parliament House! Team Anna which begin its journey with continuous fasts,
turned parliament into a war place and party houses into meeting places. Their
moves touched the very conscience of India but failed to bring 'Jan Lokpal
bill' for which whole of this movement had begun earlier. Thanks to powerful
lobby of crooked politicians who ensured even after continuous indoor meetings, nothing comes out to break their luxury mould of life and
showcases the intelligent illegality of which they are pivotal part of. And
this moves which were successful in arranging gatherings but failed
ubiquitously in realizing its primary goal of enacting an ombudsman law of
bringing forth the much anticipated, Jan Lokpal bill made the Gandhian AnnaHazare to part his ways with dynamic Arvind Kejriwal and team, only to make way
for Kejriwal to announce his own political wing under which he continued to
strike head on with crooked political stalwarts.
Anna's decision of parting himself away from Kejriwal's
political ambition wasn't of much surprise as he himself from the beginning of
time has been pressing on one thing in particular and that was of maintaining a
meaningful distance from politics. He asserted that, he will continue to strive
hard in cleaning the system without actually entering into it! But how far
could you accept it to happen? Is it possible to shoot the goons without
entering into their territory? And after all, the united Team Anna has tried
their every bit in wooing politicians of each party to raise their voice and
support in parliament for Jan Lokpal but all this peaceful protests and fasts
have failed to meet their basic means. This clearly was sensed by Kejriwal
& co. who announced the beginning of their political innings officially
from October 2nd. The decision welcomed initially with mixed reactions got
immense boost when Arvind started revealing heinous links between different
political parties, illegalities in land grabbing, ill handling of sanctions to
the trusts etc. which stirred the very conscience of common man who instantly
connected himself with the cause Arvind was fighting for. Media too got
something worth reporting for and instantly started portraying Kejriwal as the
leader of masses and Indian version of Julian Assange.
It was not just the common man who was thrilled of Arvind's
boldness but even the political stalwarts weren't able to hide their emotions.
After all, someone was there, in the middle of every discussion breaking the
vicious circle of foul politicos and winning hearts of every class of people
instantly! Even the media houses got their surprise when Kejriwal dared to
touch those who till date were supposedly untouched! The crooked case of Sonia
Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra spoke it all. It brought instant stir in
political circles. In fact ironical were those clippings of different cabinet
ministers batting for Robert Vadra when they themselves were saying, 'its wrong
to connect Robert Vadra to congress party, he is a businessman and private
entity!' Now anybody would wonder, why then are these top notch politicians not
just from congress but even the opposition backing him! Congress party almost
was at the helm of undue humor when its bosses kept themselves afloat and
refused to comment when Kejriwal revealed myriad handling of Zakir Hussain
trust headed by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Louis
Khurshid. The trust came into spotlight
of every camera and discussion when it was alleged that the trust failed to
handle sanctions of government to less fortunate people and utilized it for
personal good. It was cursed for alleged ill handling of utilities issued to
handicapped and further for forging signatures of top officials!
BJP which till now was finding itself in safe heaven, utilizing
every allegation framed by Kejriwal to target congress and garner some more
votes thereby portraying unofficially as if IAC is its plan B in rooting out
congress got its share of shock when bold & passionate Arvind Kejriwal targeted
party boss, Nitin Gadkari. He meticulously unfolded the links between BJP chief
and congress-NCP leaders in Maharashtra irrigation scam and many more loot
running in Maharashtra. BJP got itself on down track when its own senior
leader, Rajya Sabha MP and prominent lawyer Ram Jethmalani has expressed his
subtle doubts over Nitin Gadkari's innocence and expressed his displeasure over
party's decision of amending its constitution to make possible the second
innings of Gadkari. Further he asserted that if Arvind reveals anything that
proves Gadkari's involvement in irrigation scam then he himself will reveal
some new things which would further degrade the image of party chief as he
already is in possession of those papers stirred up a political hornets' nest. And now, as Arvind has already
disclosed/revealed alleged involvement of Nitin Gadkari in Maharashtra
irrigation scam and many other dubious dealings between himself and
congress-NCP government, all eyes are on senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani!
Amidst all this, one thing is by far clear. Arvind Kejriwal is
not your run-of-the-mill usual politician who runs behind so called 'party
high-commands' seeking power or loots nation in the name of reforms for poor
nonchalantly. He is the brave soul which was dead in us all these myriad years.
Its time you wake it up now and rally it behind the super crazy yet passionate
Arvind Kejriwal & co... They are here to stay in minds and hearts of us for
eternity to come. Its time cartoonist Aseem Trivedi change his notion of
parliament house as toilet seat and portray it as the temple of highest
austerity as conscience driven and not money & muscle power driven
individuals enter this age old building of national importance! Times certainly
seem to be changing. Gone are those days of pulling yourself away from
appearing before polling booths just because there aren't any worth candidates
to vote for. Here they are bombarding and breaking every plan of illegality and
foul plays. It's time you stand up tall for a cause you always connected to.
It's time you join hands with Arvind Kejriwal.
