India-Britain:Is it shame on part of India to buy jet for £13bn from one and courtesy aid of £1bn from other?
Will it be advisable to beg for a dole of
bread on one side in the name of
survival and yet same time spend
hundreds on purchase of fences for in
the wake of security!!! Absolutely
absurd to hear & digest.... India-Britain relationships are at a high stake in the
present frivolous times, and the
inflammatory remarks passed over in
the respective nations is arousing wild
public anger in mindset of common
public. There haven't been any issue in recent past which has made such large
headlines & dubious discussions
thereby creeping into the parliament of
Britain; without any surprise over the
issue even the MPs of ruling party apart
from opposition are questioning the aid being given to India. While on other
hand though little but some are
questioning about the fiercely dark
impact of stopping the flow of aid
would have on the lives of poor, who
hitherto were surviving on it, but there are enough arrows to hit them back
asking India's moral responsibility
and disgratitude that the country has shown. Questions like "whats the
need of providing aid of £1bn when
India can afford £13bn to spend upon
jet contract" are very much obvious.
There's strong fear of societies being
crumbling up & spreading up of wrath between both countries;if questions
and doubts of mass goes unanswered.
Trudging sure wouldn't help, need of
the hour is to take discreet steps. The facts on other hand do speak a
totally different story. Union Finance
Minister Pranab Mukherji has been
found saying "we do not require the
aid" describing it as 'peanuts' in terms
of India's massive development efforts. But Britain continues the flow stating
the name of its electoral reforms which
it has proposed. Even the former
Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao,
formally proposed an end to British aid
from April 1, 2011, because of the "negative publicity of Indian poverty
promoted by DfID(The Department for
International Development)." But British
ministers in the name of electorate and
embarrassement that they would have to face if the Indian
govt then pulled the plug; continued
the aid. Though capricious it might
seem or be, now perhaps is the high
time for India to pull the plug and
move on on its own terms and foreseen plans. Issue for instance has
ripened more because India has
accepted the offer of France which is
arch rival of Britain and spent £13bn in
purchasing Rafale. Though Eurofighter
typhoon was poised equally with the Rafale, but India finally discarded British offer as it
was priced very higher. Though seem
logically correct in this sense but
intellectuals from Britain doubt about
India's morality quotient. Some even
travel back upto the times of BritishRaj to stumble "How dare a former colony
to boot of us to snub us?" obviously
now its right time for India to move on and present a trace true to its tagline 'emerging superpower' without caring about the complains of moral obligations & lack of gratitude. The officials in India must remember to
revamp their plans to ensure the poor of their well being in more
sophisticated ways than earlier by
helping them develop, prosper &
regenerate to the glory they dream,
desire & wish to be. Thereby silencing
the detractors who are in awe of getting a splendid chance to question the
stance of Indian govt on 'why have you
gone in fixing the fences in the name of
security when the members of home
are dying of hunger?!!'.
