Ghaziabad: Team Anna, in
its core committee
meeting on Saturday,
decided not to dissolve
the core committee.
Members of Anna
Hazare's team had met to
discuss the ongoing
controversies
surrounding them, but
without the social activist
Anna Hazare himself.
"This movement is to
remove corruption, so
there is no question of
disbanding core
committee," said Core
Committee member
Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal said that there
was no demand to
disband the committee
and the decision after the
meeting was a
unanimous one.
Kejriwal said, there was a
unanimous decision to
continue with the
committee. There is no
need to disband the
committee, there was no
demand to disband it."
On being asked about the
anti-Congress campaign
in Hisar, he said that if the
Prime Minister's letter
came before the by-poll
election then Team Anna
would not have gone
ahead with the campaign.
He also maintained that
the resolution passed by
the committee reiterated
the movement was not
anti-Congress.
"Campaign in Hissar is
ratified by core committee
as is was against the
corruption. The Prime
Minister's letter came late
after the Hisar election. If
we had received the letter
before the by-election we
would have not
campaigned in Hisar,"
Kejriwal said.
Prashant Bhushan, Shanti
Bhushan, Arvind Kejriwal,
Manish Sisodia and Bedi
were present at the
meeting, while activist
Medha Patkar and Santosh
Hegde did not attend the
meeting.
The sticking points in the
meeting were Prashant
Bhushan's comments on
Kashmir and Anna's
repeated objections to
this, the anti-Congress
campaign in Hisar which
saw the exit of two team
members and the
embarrassment caused
by the scandal involving
Kiran Bedi. 29-Oct 16:48
