Do Cats Also Practice Patriarchy?

Image
One not so fine day when I was in the hospital taking care of someone dear to my heart, I happened to meet two cats. Actually, there were four of them if my math is right and those bitches didn’t trick me. Okay. Wait. Before I start, let me pause and ask you something important. What is your opinion about cats? I mean, do you view them as just another creature with four legs that man happened to domesticate (?) or are you one of them who believes otherwise. Let me make a full disclosure here. I am one of those many people residing on this planet who know the unknown that cats are some mysterious beings here for some mysterious purpose (read ulterior motive !). Humans for ages have been tricked into believing they are taking care of or are using cats as domestic pets. You think I’m kidding, don’t you? Well, I’m fucking serious. Okay. If you don’t believe me, answer this one question. Why do we have those bitches at our home? Dogs guard our houses, those poor creatures have

Looking Back — When Someone Leaves You Wanting More

Photo by Jonatan Pie on Unsplash Looking back I wish I had hugged you Little longer than I already did. I wish I had stayed till sunrise to Savor coffee in bed together And not left in between I wish we had met earlier than When we did Spent days than hours I wish we had night to ourselves To sleep under the sky With stars and moon to guard I wish we were together Breathing heavy and in Each other’s arms and not distance apart I wish.

Satire: Read What Lord Ram Has To Say About Firecrackers And Diwali

Image
India’s highest court has ruled out that firecrackers be banned in Delhi NCR. And not very surprisingly it has ruffled the feathers of the old Hindutva crown. Some have welcomed it, as always and some have not, again, as always. But twitter has turned into the new battleground. Battles are no more fought in Kurukshetra or Kargil, new age warriors no more wield swords and battle hammers, they use their clickety-clickety keyboards now. But there is one thing that everyone seems to miss in all this hullabaloo. Ramayana. Yes, the old Hindu mythological text that tells the story of Ram, his wife Sita, his brothers, monkey-god Hanuman and other ensembles of the cast. If you are familiar with Indian Twitter scene, you must already be aware of certain patterns. Like for example, the Hindu right wing, especially certain hardliners, always take back their argument to ancient texts. They talk about how wonderful, scenic and peaceful life was in age-old times. But this time, they are caught

I Love You — Can We Fall In Love, Please?

Image
It is crazy how after a hi And crazy exchange of flirting You send that I love you text Everyone after few texts nowadays Is asking if we can fall in love with As if they are asking to put jeans on Or to sign on those dotted lines It doesn’t work like that You don’t love because you want to That is how you have sex And that is alright Few need it as an entry filter before calling each other a couple And that is alright too But Love, it just happens without validation and screenings There is no starting point for love I love you is not the start It is just the officiating It begins long before you utter those words Long before you know it, it just blooms inside Read My Old Poem Here !

Has It Ever Happened To You?

Image
Dakota Johnson from Fifty Shades Has it ever happened to you? That you are in bed with someone Your bodies touching each other But you aren’t there altogether Your mind is wandering elsewhere In some other bed, someone else’s arms Smelling a body alien to one you are in with now Smooching a face far away from this room Has it ever happened to you…

When Vegetables Became Hindu And The Goat A Musalman — Story Of A Family WhatsApp Group That Turned Hostile Over ‘Eid Mubarak’ Wishes

Image
I don’t use Whatsapp much for my own personal reasons. Most of the times it’s uninstalled and when it’s installed I check it few times of the day when I have absolutely nothing else to do; that is, after a round of Twitter, Instagram, Reddit etc. Today as it was Eid, early morning when I got up, I sent Eid wishes to all of my contacts who celebrate it via of course Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram, FB messenger and few SMSes (two of my friends are still not technologically connected). Late afternoon, as I was browsing through few replies and other messages, I stumbled upon a text in a family Whatsapp group. Now, I usually stay away from Whatsapp groups but this particular text just plain annoyed me. Message which was written in local language roughly translated to, “Nobody celebrates it here… Don’t post such wishes…” I opened the group to check who had posted what. I personally feel these groups are a den of bigotry and hate. That’s one of the reasons I have stopped reading gr

When They Tell You They Want To Disappear

Image
They will tell you They wanna disappear Far away from the madness of this world Away from hate, failures, breakups, heartbreaks They wanna walk into wilderness Into open fields and clear streams Jungles where elephants make sounds And deers run from roaring lions Into trees that grow supporting one another A world that exists onto itself Where seeds fall down and come to life when it pours from the skies But you know what? That’s not disappearing You want to be found You are longing to be discovered You are crying to meet thyself and you will But disappear you will not You will vanish only when death embraces you When you will become one with thin air That would be disappearance… Thanks for reading above poem. Do Share if you liked what you just read. It means a lot to me and helps other people to discover it :)

What Happens When You Ignore The First Mistake

Image
It not only takes your right to question the second occurrence but also opens a cycle that is hard to break.   First things are always the first. How lame a sentence, isn’t it? But seriously; Good, bad or ugly, firsts set the precedent and it’s always important to make note of them. When an error, a mistake, a crime, an event where norm or law is broken for the first time, it is important to stop and question it then and there. However small or insignificant it may seem at first, it needs to be called out for what it is. A mistake. You don’t ignore it because it doesn’t matter and not affect your flow of work. It might not affect you now but believe me it will come to haunt you tomorrow and then you will have nothing to do about it except to regret. That’s exactly what I did last week when I went home.  I had marriage of a family member to attend to at one side of Goa, a small Indian state famous for its pristine beaches, old churches and Portuguese era architecture. The Scent, The Parting And Longing That Lives On

Image
Remember when we first met Remember when we embraced each other close That’s when I encountered your scent The one that I have still not forgotten I know we both have traveled long for now Not together but on separate paths But I remember that scent vividly That invigorating feeling it evoked Every night when I’m alone to myself I wish to join you I wish to make that scent mine I remember buying the same soap as you Thinking the scent was from it I remember buying the same perfume but It took me a while to realize it was yours alone It emanated from you and you alone I remember hugging you tight at times Just to get that scent on my body I remember breathing heavy beside you Losing myself in the scent I had so badly Fallen in love with I remember us parting on good terms I remember that day so well when we called it off I remember it I wanted an embrace, a close one, for one last time I couldn’t ask I stood there thinking how to

How Congress And BJP Annulled High Court Judgment That Aimed To Wipe Their Existence — The Story They Want To Bury

Image
Let me tell you an important story which for all reasons will be retold for years to come as our democracy transforms in coming decades. Way back in March 2014, 10 days before the general elections, the Delhi High Court found both BJP and Indian National Congress guilty of accepting foreign funds . The court ruled that these parties were violating the FCRA and were slated to be disqualified because both of them had taken donations from Vedanta and its subsidiaries — which are foreign entities — between 2004 and 2012.  — via Newslaundry.com I know how you are feeling. This was just before the biggest elections that voted in Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of the Republic of India. Imagine those elections without BJP and Congress; just imagine.  If this is indeed true (which it is), how come both parties fought the elections? That’s the interesting bit to know how political parties fight their battles and unite with ‘rivals’ when need be but we will come to t

Kendall Jenner Ad Is Not The First Time Pepsi Has Ridiculed And Demeaned A Protest — There Was FTII Before

Image
While going through my morning dose of reading, I bumped into this medium piece about a Pepsi ad featuring Kendall Jenner (suggest you watch the ad before reading any further). Whoa! It felt like I have been living under a rock in some Saharan desert. Little more reading and damn, this had in fact been huge. There has been so huge a backlash that the Pepsi has now taken down their ad. They say, “ Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologise for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.” Bernice King, daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. tweeted, If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi . pic.twitter.com/FA6JPrY72V — Be A King (@BerniceKing) April 5, 2017 Most of the controversy, I hear is over the stark similari

Dear Flipkart, Providing Used Handset For New Isn’t Replacement But Thuggery

Image
TL;DR Flipkart says, they understand my problem, that I have received a used phone and how they are sorry about it but won’t exchange the same.   So like many on the big day (Thursday 16 March, 2017) I placed my order for Moto G5 Plus. I was told it will arrive after 5 days. Disheartened but I told myself to wait like everyone else. Fast Forward. I received my set on Monday 20 March, 2017. I used the set for a while and in the process noticed that there is some fault from the manufacturer. It was making the unusual ‘click’ sound if you press the section beside SIM card holder. Clearly some error from assembling unit. I then started cautiously checking other parts and noticed how power button was loose as well. It was a mess of sort. I then gave the handset into a friend’s hand who is more familiar with electronics. He was quite sure there was some hardware issue and suggested me I raise the replacement request. Following day, on Tuesday 21 March, 2017
